Adjective or Adverb
Adjectives modify nouns: That is a big house.
Adverbs modify verbs: He ran quickly.
Adverbs also modify adjectives: He is very tall.
Adverbs can also modify other adverbs: The race ended too quickly.
Both adverbs and adjectives can end in -ly. To decide which is which, you have to determine what the word is modifying.
Hint: Adverbs never modify nouns, and adjectives only modify nouns.
DIRECTIONS: Find the -ly word in the sentences and indicate whether it is an adjective or an adverb.
