Story reminder: The story begins on May 15, 2157, with Margie writing in her diary that “Today Tommy found a real book!” This discovery is something very original as the kids have not seen anything like pages written down that do not turn after you read them, do not move across a TV screen. This old book is from the time of their grandfathers’ grandfathers, when all stories were printed on paper, not set to animated screens.
Eleven year old Margie and thirteen year old Tommy have only ever experienced “teachers” consisting of personalized TV screens with structured learning exercises, homework, and tests, all customized for each child. When Margie struggles with geography, a technician comes out to slow the progress of her machine, assuring her parents that she is making “adequate progress”.
