GW Chinese Program: Credit Transfer Exam SIGN-UP Sheet 2025

Dear Returning Students:

If you only request general credits (CHIN 1099) for your study abroad Chinese course(s), there is no need to sign up for credit transfer exams. Please just submit your application through the GW CATS system (the GW Office for Study Abroad) and note that you are requesting CHIN 1099 only. If the CATS system does not work, please contact the Office for Study Abroad.

If you are not satisfied with receiving CHIN 1099 (general credits) and wish to have your study abroad credits transferred as specific GW Chinese course credits (e.g., CHIN 2004, CHIN 3105, etc.), you will need to complete this form and schedule an oral interview and/or a credit transfer exam. Please send the completed form by email to Prof. Hang Zhang at hangz@gwu.edu or/and Prof. Tao Peng at tao.peng@gwu.edu. Once your exam results are available and you have discussed them with the Chinese Program approver (usually the study abroad adviser), you may submit your transfer credit request through the CATS system. We will review and approve your request online.

For further information on credit transfer policies and FAQs, please visit (scroll down to the "Study Abroad in China" section): https://eall.columbian.gwu.edu/study-abroad

If you plan to transfer your content courses (e.g., Chinese literature classes taught in English, etc.), please contact Prof. Liana Chen at liachen@gwu.edu.
