What is the purpose of this assessment?
This self-assessment provides you practice in identifying classroom nouns and indicating the presence and number of such nouns with the phrase, "il y a," (there is/there are). It is recommended that you take this assessment until you score at least an 80% to be successful in the next part of the course.
Why do I need to master this content?
You need to be able to identify items in your environment and indicate the presence and number of items with the phrase, "il y a." "Il y a" and, "il n'ya pas," are quite common in French. They are not directly translatable to English, and practicing them in context is important for your thinking in French rather than trying to think and translate from English.
