Descriptions of Committees:

Innovations Team:
Reviews ideas submitted by associates. These ideas relate to bettering programs & steps to current guidelines to make jobs more efficient/cost effective. Monthly meetings are held with different teams formed throughout the company in multiple departments. Ideas are reviewed by the team & determined if they should move towards implementation. Management gives final approval, then sub-teams proceed with implementation.

Community Involvement Council (CIC):
This Council is formed under the authority of the executive management of ALIC. They recruit, select, promote & coordinate various community oriented volunteer activities.

WorkPride:
A committee dedicated to the morale of associates. Activities take place through the efforts of this committee by means of desk drops, themed food days, & more. They meet monthly with all locations to discuss ideas & events

Work Life:
Formed to promote healthy habits & lifestyles. It provides information about local health club memberships, programs such as Weight Watchers, fit living classes at local clubs & various events such as marathons. They also do annual challenges to promote active lifestyles. They hold annual health fairs & provide health assessments for associates. They meet monthly.

Celebrations:
Formed to foster a happy work environment & boost the associates morale in day to day fundamentals of the work place. It implements small breaks to larger activities for associates to participate in to help break up daily job functions & to promote a fun work environment. This committee is also in charge of coordinating many of the corporate sponsored events & activities. The committe meets monthly.


United Way:
An Ameritas sponsored committee developed to coordinate activities & fundraising events for the annual Ameritas United Way campaign to help several non-profit organizations within the community. United Way envisions a world where all individuals & families achieve their human potential through education, income stability & healthy lives. United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.

Relay For Life:
An Ameritas sponsored committee developed to provide fundraising activities for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Relay for Life was started In May 1985, when Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern – cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising more than $4 billion to fight cancer.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF):
An Ameritas sponsored committee developed to provide fundraising activities for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF is dedicated to funding Type 1 diabetes research (T1D). JDRF's mission is to "progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until we achieve a world without T1D." JDRF uses over 80% of its expenditures to support research related education.

Humane Society:
An Ameritas sponsored committee developed to provide fundraising activities for the local chapter of the Humane Society of the US. Founded in 1954, The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest animal protection organization. The Humane Society works to reduce suffering & to create meaningful social change for animals by advocating for sensible public policies, investigating cruelty & working to enforce existing laws, educating the public about animal issues, joining with corporations on behalf of animal friendly policies, & conducting hands-on programs that make ours a more humane world.

March of Dimes:
An Ameritas sponsored committee developed to provide fundraising activities for the March of Dimes Foundation. March of Dimes is dedicated to helping moms have full-term pregnancies & healthy babies through researching the problems that threaten babies due to pre-mature birth &/or birth defects. March of Dimes provides Professional education & medical resources on topics like premature birth & birth defects, to health care providers to better support their patients

TeamMates:
Founded by Tom & Nancy Osborne this Ameritas sponsored committee was developed to provide support & encouragement to school aged youth. The goal of the program is to see youth graduate from high school & pursue post-secondary education. Youth meet one hour a week with a caring adult who serves as their mentor.
