Welcome to our page on the Media Class Author Study!  This project will be due the final week of the grading period.  There are links included to help you research your author.

Students have been given a list of over 80 authors from which to choose.  They must read at least two books by this author (and may earn extra credit by reading more than two from this author. Most authors have several accelerated reader titles in the Creston Media Center (and we have just ordered 50 more tests).  Students may earn extra credit by passing the AR tests for any books they read in connection with this assignment.

This project is due on March 11
Students will have every class period the week of Feb. 25 to work on this project.

Some of the things that will be included in this study:
*brief biography of the author
*how has his/her life affected the writing
*read at LEAST two books by this author.  Compare the two works.  How are they alike/different?  Which did you like better?  Why?
*a list of works by this author
*awards won by this author
*a bibliography (print and net) of all sources used
*a reading log tracking what you read, when, and how many pages

The format for the study may include, but is not limited to:
*report
*PowerPoint
*Hyperstudio
*poster
*brochure
*video
*webpage

You need to be sure that all materials in your project are in your own words; do not just print materials from the internet.  The bibliography MUST be included.

IF YOU ARE CREATING A POWER POINT:  Guidelines
You should have approximately slides.
1.  Author's name, your name, books you read, + extra info.
2-3  Brief biography of the author (may go beyond 2 slides)
4. Connection between author's life and writings
5. Description of first book you read
6. Description of second book you read
7. Comparison of the two books (see above)
8. Works
9. Awards
10.  Bibliography:  Include ALL print AND electronic sources that you use.  It would be a good idea to start a document with any URL's that you use and add as you go.
