BLESSED SACRAMENT SCHOOL OUR MISSION / PURPOSE Blessed Sacrament School provides the learning community of the Riverside Section of Paterson with a basic Catholic elementary school education guided by educational standards and rooted in Christ so that all who enter to learn leave as continuing learners for the good of self, the Church and the world. BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT Sr. Roseann's remarks: Let's begin this school year by setting goals. Students who do their best in school have both short and long term goals. Goals help students to be on the right track. Work as a team to set goals this school year. 1. Talk to your children about school each day so that they know you are serious about their education and the importance of doing their very best. 2. Have them take responsibility for some household chores. 3. Set aside time for homework. 4. As a general rule you should expect ten minutes of homework per day for each year your child has spent in school. So a third grader would spend about 40 minutes of homework. If there are no written assignments your child should studystudy, read for enjoyment during homework time. 5. I would encourage you to take a few minutes to spend quality time with your child each day. Let us not forget our obligation as parents to give our children good example and to make one's faith become living proof and active through our daily life. Sunday worship is very important and we must atten Mass as a family. 6. Volunteer time to school. (Points!) Such as: helping on the playground, cafeteria, book fairs, Santa's Workshop, Breakfast with Santa, our school dances. Anything that you can do for our school and for the children would be most appreciated. You are the hearlds of GOOD NEWS. Invite others to see our school. I would like to thank you in advance for all you do for Blessed Sacrament School. A FEW REMINDERS 1. For the safety of our children, please get out of your cars and meet your child near the playground fence. They are not allowed to run or cross the street without an adult. 2. Dress Code: - be sure the children are dressed properly for school. They are to be in full uniform each day. A note is to accompany the child if for some reason they are out of uniform. 3. Cell Phones are not permitted during the school day. If your child walks home and needs to have the Cell Phone theyare to keep it in their bookbag until the end of the day. 4. Make up is not permitted during school hours. 5. Earrings that are reasonable are permitted such as: post earrings or very small loop earrings. Large loops are dangers, especially during play time and gym. We will not be responsible for gold and silver chains that are lost or break during the school day. 6. Fundraisers are very important to our school. Your help is most appreciated. I thank in a speciall our teachers for all the hours the spend in preparation and their dedication in preparing our child to become our future leaders. September Reminders ATTENTION! 1. If you are interested, please call school for more details. ACTIVITY INFORMATION We run many activities so that you have a chance to find something you like to do. In general: Activity time has to be finished by May 30. You belong to a team/group when you do an event. You all have to work. You have to show up for all the meetings (usually 3 the most) and you have to see it through to the end, which means clean up. The chairperson keeps attendance and submits it at the end of the event with a summary report. If you coach or assist with coaching your commitment is participation for the season or year (depends on the sport). This will take care of your activity credit for the year. Selling a certain amount of tickets to outsiders to any of our events earns you a full credit.
