I'm very excited that you are taking French II. As you know, it's a beautiful language with an interesting and diverse culture. You owe it to yourself to try your very best! Bonne chance!
THE EXAM FROM FRENCH IIA WILL COVER LESSONS 17-23.

Did you know . . .
• French as a foreign language is the second most frequently taught language in the world after English.
• French is the only language other than English spoken on five continents.
• French and English are the only two global languages.
• French companies employ over 400,000 Americans.
• 1.9 million Americans speak French in the home.
• More tourists visit France than any other country in the world.
• French is fun!

The second year in a foreign language class is sometimes the most difficult year. There is so much to learn and you are going to be amazed at your progress.

In French I, we learned a lot of vocabulary words and 6 verb conjugations. In French II, we will learn many more vocabulary words and 21 verb conjugations.

In the first semester, we will learn about leisure time activities, including sports and music. There is also a unit on clothes and shopping. One of my favorite units in the second semester is Unit 8, French food. Plan on taking a field trip for that one! Lastly, to improve our depth of conversation, our class will also learn how to talk about the past.

Please make time to study your verbs and vocabulary for at least 15 minutes each night. Make it a daily ritual. Here are some ways to help you improve your French.

• Make flashcards and use them! Study by yourself, with a friend, or with a parent.
• Teach someone else what you are learning.
• Write French words in your notebook and practice saying them aloud.
• Borrow my take-home tutor and download it on your own computer. (It's legal!)
• Visit our textbook site, www.classzone.com.
• Play games on this website.
• Go to www.yahoo.com/fr and listen to French music.
• Change the language to French on your favorite DVD.
• Get a free French tutor through the Roseville National Honor Society.
