3rd Grade Book Swap Day
**3rd Grade will have a book swap day for all students.  Each student can bring up to 4 books he/she would like to trade for other books.  Only students who bring in books will be able to participate in the book swap.  All 3 classes will participate together at the same time.

Ongoing News

Test Schedule
***A copy of the test schedule will be stapled into the assignment pad.  Please take note of the test dates.  Also, please check Quia weekly for updates and important information.

Text Books
***Each student will be bringing home a copy of the reading (book 1), English, math, & social studies text book to keep at home.  These books are scanned out through the library and should be kept in a secure place.  Students are responsible for lost or damaged textbooks.  Science will go home at a later date.  When studying for test, please refer to the textbooks as well at the study guides.

Online Tutoring
***The state of Louisiana has received a grant that provides free online tutoring help to all Louisiana students. Students can access the site at local libraries or at home by visiting the library’s website. Tutoring is available Sunday – Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The site provides live help from a professional tutor for grade levels: K – 12 including Spanish tutoring. They also provide a skills center to build skills in math, science, English and social studies.  This is available 24/7 from a student’s home computer by accessing www.homeworkla.com.

Mystery Readers will visit our classroom on Fridays at 2:00 p.m.  However, there are a few Thursdays on the schedule during weeks that we are not in school on Friday or have conflicts on a Friday due to special activities or school assemblies.  Sometimes I may need to change your date due to activities that may arise during the week.  I will send an email.  If you cannot make it on any of the scheduled dates, we can set up a different time and day that will work for both of us!

All of our Mystery Reader dates are filled.  Please contact me if you still want to read to our class.  I will make room for anyone who wants to read!

The following heading must be on all work (classwork & homework).

Please note:
If there is a discrepancy between Quia and assignment pad, always go with assignment pad.  Things change so quickly that I do not usually get the chance to update Quia.

It is important that you do not throw away any papers from your child’s binder.  We will clean out the binders as we move on.

**Beginning after Labor Day, I will collect one homework assignment in English, math, and spelling each week.  This assignment will count as a 2 point homework grade.  The grade will be recorded on Quia weekly.  If a student does not complete or turn in the graded homework assignment, the missed work will result in a "0".  Thank you for taking the time to help your child complete homework assignments.
