For the week of May 19, 2014
THIS IS IT! This is really our last week so we will be wrapping things up. The last day to turn anything in for the LAST glaze fire is the end of class on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday we will be cleaning things up and making sure everything has been turned in.
Preparing for your final exam: Your final consists of the WHISTLE project and a written test. The WHISTLE you have completed by the end of class and counts for 85% of your exam grade. The written test counts for 15% and will be given at the scheduled exam time. It consists of multiple choice, true and false, short answer, and design problems. You should review the material from the READER’S QUIZZES, (copies can be downloaded below,) and be sure you can explain the four building processes we learned – pinch pot, coil, slab and drape. Tutorials are linked below. The design problems are like the projects we did in class. You will be given an idea for a project and asked to design it and explain how you would build it and how you would glaze it. It is as if you were preparing to do another project - except you will only plan it out, not build it.
Apps: There are three free apps you will want to download to your iPad.
Daily Clay
Let's Create! Pottery HD Lite
ArtSite: You will need to use the following code number when you register with this site - 1032326
Parents please note: During this semester of Ceramics, please be advised that students will occasionally use "Notability" to submit work to be graded. The project will be forwarded to my Saint Viator email account and I will grade it and send a reply with their grade back to them. This allows students to document progress at various stages and get feedback during the process of working in ceramics. If you want to be included in this process, please have your student include your email address in the CC line of the original Notability file they send to me.
AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT DONATING SOME MUSIC TO THE ART DEPARTMENT! We're looking for you to burn a CD with 40-45 minutes of music. All the songs must be appropriate for the classroom (when in doubt, leave it out!) It can be just your favorite songs, a "Best of" collection, just about whatever you want. The CD will belong to the art department and you must include a list of the songs and performers. You DO NOT need to provide a jewel case. We're looking forward to hearing your favorites
