The Same Stuff as Stars Battleship Game by Michaela, Lamia, Monique, Rachael, Erika HLA 4/5

Title: The Same Stuff as Stars
Author: Katherine Patterson
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Brief Description:
Angel Morgan’s family is falling apart. Her dad is in jail, and her mother (Verna) has abandoned Angel and Bernie (her little brother) at their great grandmother’s old farmhouse. Grandma doesn’t do much all day except for lying down wrapped in a blanket.
Angel and Bernie are beginning to get hopeless after Verna doesn’t come back for a while. There is only one good activity to do at Grandma’s house (according to Angel): a mysterious stranger comes out every night to teach Angel all about the stars, planets, and constellations. Times start to get better as she meets the librarian, Ms. Liza, who helps Angel with her problems and helps her get enrolled in school. School is a pain for Angel, considering she has no friends. Then one day Bernie doesn’t come home from school. Could things get any worse?
