Crispin: The Cross of Lead is about boy named Crispin and his adventures throughout Middle Ages England with his master, Bear. Crispin’s adventure starts when he is declared a wolf’s head (which means anyone can kill him and collect a reward) by his steward, John Aycliffe, for supposedly stealing his money. Bear and Crispin are tracked by John Aycliffe while they travel to different towns to perform. John catches up with Crispin and Bear in a city called Great Wexley and captures Bear. Crispin persuades John to give Bear back to him. Bear then impales John on his soldier’s swords. Crispin and Bear leave Great Wexly after Bear kills John.
