The Cure-Battleship by Evan Hancock and Danielle Wu

The book we read was called The Cure by Sonia Levitin. This book is about Gemm, who lives in the future. Gemm is considered a deviant or a threat to the utopian society and is not conforming to society. When Gemm is given the choice between being recycled (die) or taking the mysterious and painful Cure. Gemm chooses the Cure, and becomes Johannes, a Jewish musician in the year 1348. The Jews at that time were being persecuted and blamed for the Black Death. Will Johannes/Gemm survive this Cure?
