The Distributive Property

Be careful how you write your answers. No variables need to be capitalized and no parentheses should be used in your answers. Answers were entered two ways, with no spaces at all and with spaces between the terms and the operators (except when the first terms is negative, there is no space between the negative sign and the numeral in the first term). Write the variables of each term in alphabetical order, for example, hg will be incorrect but gh will be correct. Write your answer in the order in which you distribute. 5(4 + r) will be 20 + 5r even though we normally write the term with a variable first.
