Subject Verb Agreement Errors
When the subject of the sentence is singular, the verb must be singular; if the subject is plural, the verb must be plural. Note: You can tell a verb is singular because singular verbs will have‘s’ on the end. Make sure you locate the REAL subject of the sentence! (e.g., The size of the books makes them hard to read.) Size, not books, is the subject. Two subjects joined by and are plural; if joined by or, use the subject nearer the verb. (e.g., Either the manager or the employees are wrong.) DIRECTIONS: LABEL EACH SENTENCE AS CORRECT OR HAVING A SUBJECT VERB AGREEMENT ERROR.
