Rules to remember: the 1st principle part is the present tense, the imperfect is built from the 2nd principle part, drop the re of the infinitive, add the ba tense indicator, and then add the correct personal endings. The perfect is built from the 3rd principle part = the perfect stem.
Present tense is translated as taking, takes, is taking . . . The imperfect tense is translated with the helping verbs of "was" and "were", were taking, was taking. The perfect tense is translate as past completed action = took.
