Chap. 20 Present and Perfect Tenses Verb Endings
You will recall that for present tense regular verbs, the personal endings are -ō, -s, -t, -mus, -tis, -nt, depending on the subject. But for verbs that are in the perfect tense (snapshot of the past), the personal endings are a little different. They are -ī, -istī, -it, -imus, -istis, -ērunt. In addition, those endings go on the stem of third principal part, not the stem of the 2nd principal part. The following activity is about the verb manēre "to remain." Match the correct present or perfect ending to the base that has been provided. You'll need to pay attention to the subject as well as the principal part stem that is provided. The first three principal parts of the verb "to remain" are maneō, manēre, mansī. See pp. 73, 160, and 271 for helpful charts of verbs.
