Capitulum 10: Dictionary Entry

A noun's dictionary entry is what you will see when you look up that noun in a Latin dictionary. It generally goes like this:

nominative sing. genitive sing., gender = English meaning(s).
Exempla:
īnsula, -ae, f. = island
fluvius, -ī, m. = river
māter, mātris, f. = mother

The genitive singular ending is there to tell you which declension the noun belongs to.
