Remember that the nominative singular form of a 3rd declension noun is irregular. However, all other forms genitive singular thru ablative plural will form like stem of the genitive singular but will use the specific case endings of the other cases. For example the word for mountain is mōns, and mōntis in the singular genitive. So the singular dative would be mōntis - the t is duplicated in all forms except the nominaive singular.
