Reflexive Verbs in German

When the subject and the object of a sentence are the same person, the action word is said to be a reflexive verb. For an example in English, I see myself in the mirror.

In German, ich wasche mich, literally, I wash myself.

Some verbs that must be reflexive in German are not necessarily so in English, and vice versa. As one example, the English verb Hurry! does not have to be reflexive, but the German counterpart sich beeilen must be expressed as a reflexive verb.
