Lesson 2: Spelling Homophones, Grades 7 & 8*
Homophones are words that are pronounced the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings. The key to learning how to spell them, then, is to learn their meanings and how they're to be used. See how well you can do at learning homophones by playing this game. (Note: The game includes the list of homophones from both the 7th and 8th grade spelling lists, lesson 2. I've also included several other homophones not on either list but frequently misused.)
*Many of these homophones come from Elements of Language, First Course, CD-ROM "One-Stop Planner" (Holt, Rinehart, and Winston--2000) and Elements of Language, Second Course, CD-ROM "One-Stop Planner" (Holt, Rinehart, and Winston--2000).
