Por - Para

The prepositions Para and Por, (for and by) have distinctive uses in Spanish.

PARA: is generally used to express '
USE' (una taza para café),
PURPOSE or MOTIVE (este libro es para Juan)
DESTINATION (salieron ayer para Madrid)

POR is used variously with the idea of through, by, per (el ladrón entró por la ventana) (viene aquí dos veces por semana)
POR is also used to indicate the agent in the passive voice (este libro fue escrito por él)
