Thomas Jefferson | writer of the Declaration of Independence. He was our 3rd President |
Abraham Lincoln | the 16th President of the United States. His is known for being the President of the Civil War. He helped to abolish slavery. |
Martin Luther King, Jr. | the preacher from Georgia who "had a dream" that all people would be treated equally and not judged by the color of their skin. He is known as a leader in the Civil Rights movement. |
Rosa Parks | the black woman who refused to give up her seat on a public bus because she was black. |
Thurgood Marshall | the black lawyer who became a member of the United States Supreme Court |
Veteran's Day | Nov. 11th. This day is set aside to honor the members of the United States military who have defended our country. |
Memorial Day | celebrated in May every year, this day is set aside to remember those memebers of our military who have died fighting for our country and freedom. |
