| Acceptable Use Policy/Agreement | A form that is signed by an individual that accepts responsible behavior and use for technology. |
| USB (Universal Serial Bus) | The part of the computer used to connect devices to the computer (also known as a port). |
| CD-ROM | A format used to store large amounts of information. The disk is read by a laser. |
| CPU (Central Processing Unit) | The brains of the computer. On our Dell computers, we also call this the "tower." |
| Drive | Any device that reads and writes information, such as a hard drive, floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, or a tape drive. |
| Output Device | A device through which information from the computer is communicated to the outside world, such as a display screen, printer, or speakers. |
| Email | The electronic transmission of letters, documents, messages, and memos from one computer to another over a network. |
| Input Device | A machine through which information is entered into the computer's main memory. A mouse, a graphics tablet, and a keyboard are examples of input devices. |
| Floppy Disk | A 3.5 inch removable disk that's flexible (although it's protected by a hard plastic case). |
| Hard Drive | The primary storage device for your computer. Also called a hard disk. It is where applications, utilities, and files are stored. |
