| Hydrogen Peroxide | The oxidizing agent most commonly used in haircoloring. |
| Oil Bleaches | The mildest of the three types of lighteners and have the least amount of lightening action. |

| Fillers | Specialized preparations that are designed to help equalize porosity and deposit a base color in one application. |
| Tint Back | To return to the natural shade of a client who has been either tinting or bleaching their hair. |
| Soap Cap | The addition of shampoo to the tint solution to create a milder formula. |
| Analine Derivative Tint | Usually contained in a single-process tint. An allergic reaction to this substance may be avoided by giving a patch test 48 hours prior to application. |
| Hydrometer | Measures the volume of liquid peroxide for the purpose of adjusting its strength. |
| Tint | Permanent oxidizing haircolor product having the ability to lift and deposit color in the same process. |
| Penetrating Tints | Color that enters or penetrates the cortex or second layer of the hair shaft. |
