| Arbitration | use of a 3rd party (neutral) to decide solutions to a labor dispute. Either side can reject the decision |

| Picketing | Parading with signs in front of a business; workers try to gain support from the public |
| Strike | Chief weapon of labor- labor refuses to work until its demands are met |
| Scab | Worker hired to take the place of a worker on strike |
| "Yellow god contract" | an agreement signed by a worker promising not to join a union (now illegal) |
