| Deep Sea (Benthic) | Area of high pressure, cold temperature, and total darkness, gulper eels, giant squid, sea cucumbers |
| Estuaries | Boundaries between fresh and salt water, swamps, lagoons, sunlight penetrates the water completely |

| Ecosystem | A given area's abiotic factors and biotic factors |
| Climax Community | A stable collection of organisms |
