AB
AlignmentThe placement of text relative to the margins.
Desktop PublishingThe ability to make the printed word more attractive using the computer and specialized software.
GraphicA line, cirlce, or box which has been created, or an image or illustration which is imported into the publication.
LandscapePaper positioned so it is wider than it is tall. The page orientation where text/graphics print across the longer dimension of the paper.

Clip ArtA collection of ready-made drawings and illustrations available in different topics and theme which may be purchased on disk and imported into publications.
FormatThe overall appearance or layout of a publication.
GutterThe white space between columns.
WidowA single line of a paragraph which appears at the bottom of a page or column.
ClipboardA temporary storage area that holds text and graphics. When text or a graphic ic "cut" or "copied," it is "placed" by the software on the clipboard. Whatever is in the clipboard can be pasted into the current publication.
FontA set of characters in one style and one size of one typeface.
WidowA single line of a paragraph which appears at the bottom of a page or column.
HandlesThe "dots" surrounding a selected object indicating that it is in edit mode.
OrphanA single line of a paragraph which appears at the top of a page or column.
ColumnA vertical section of a page.
RotateThe act of turning a graphic or text to different positions.
I-BeamThis indicates current position in the open file where text will be inserted or corrections can be made.
Drawing ToolsThe items in the toolbox (line, shape, pencil, paint bucket, eraser, etc). used to create lines, boxes, and circles.
PortraitPaper positioned so that it is taller than it is wide. The page orientation where text/graphics print across the shorter dimension of the page.
LayoutThe arrangement of text and images on a page.
CropThe act of "cutting" part of the graphic image.
PasteThe process of returning text or graphics to the page after they have been cut from a previous location.
DragThe act of moving the mouse while holding down the mouse button.
ImportThe process of bringing text or graphics into an application from another source.
DefaultA preset condition of the software, which the software uses if no other option is selected.
White SpaceThe blank space between text and graphics on a page.
CutThe process of removing text or a graphic from its location.
MastheadThe information included in the top portion of a newsletter: the newlsetter's title, intended audience, division or organization publishing the document, volume and/or issue number and the current date of the issue.
DTPAn abbreviation for Desktop Publishing.
JustifiedA text alignment option in which the text is aligned at both the left and right margins.
