| HIMMLER | A early German Nazi leader who was chief of the German police and he controlled the Gestapo, the secret police of Germany. He was one of the most cold-blooded of the Nazi leaders and he was a racist. He oversaw many concentration camps and ordered many people to death. In July 1944, he put down a conspiracy against Hitler and he was the virtual dictator of German domestic policy. Himmler secretly attempted to negotiate German surrender, hoping to save himself at the end of the war. in May, 1945, and committed suicide by swallowing poison because Germany lost the war and he wouldn’t want to have to deal with any consequences. |

The Nazis took all their belongings away. These places had very little food and many people got sick and died in them. People were also shot, especially babies. | MENGELE | The cruel Nazi doctor who worked and experimented on people at Auschwitz concentration camp, also know as “the angle of death.” He often performed cruel experiments, especially on twins and dwarfs. He liked to experiment on twins because he tried to find a way to make women have more twins, so he could double the German population. He often put Jews in pressure chambers to see the effects it had; the Jews were left in there until they stopped breathing. He also injected blue dye in brown eyed people’s eyes to see if it would work. |
| ARYAN | The ideal race according to Hitler also known as the “master race.” The Aryan race includes people with blond hair, blue eyes, are tall and are large-boned. Hitler wanted to get rid of all other people who did not fit this description perfectly. It is interesting to note that Hitler did not fit this description at all. He had brown hair and was short. But yet Hitler dreamt of a pure Aryan race that would one day take over the world. |
