Real NumbersAll rational and irrational numbers.
Rational NumbersA number that can be expressed as a fraction or ratio when the numerator and the denominator are both integers. When the fraction is divided out, it becomes a terminating or repeating decimal. Includes counting numbers, whole numbers, integers, and non-integers.
Irrational NumbersNumbers that cannot be written as a ratio (fraction) of two integers and when put in decimal form the number forms non-repeating, non-terminating decimals.
Natural NumbersCounting Numbers such as 1, 2, 3.....
Whole NumbersCounting Numbers and 0.
IntegersCounting Numbers, their opposites, and zero.
Non-IntegersFractions that can be written as terminating or repeating decimals.
Terminating Decimal.Decimal that comes to a complete stop.
Repeating DecimalDecimal where any number of digits repeats forever.
PiAn irrational number which equals approximately 3.14.
Absolute ValueA number's distance from 0 on a number line.
Scientific NotationIs used to write very large (or very small) numbers as a number less greater than 1 and less than 10 as a power of 10.
Standard FormThe way we normally write numbers.
Expanded FormWriting numbers as a sum of their place values.
