| Menu bar | The row of words across the top of the screen that “pull down” to reveal other commands |
| Standard toolbar | Contains shortcuts for many common tools such as open, save, print, and print preview |

| Scroll bars | The sliding bars found along the right and bottom of the screen, allowing you to see other parts of a long document |
| Task pane | Can be used for many tasks, such as adding clip art and searching |
| Crop | similar to using scissors; allows you to trim pictures |
| Handles | shows that a picture is selected; could be black squares or white dots |
| Print screen | takes a snapshot of your screen and allows you to paste it in as a picture |
