proper fraction | A fraction whose numerator is smaller then the denominator. It represents an amount less than 1. |
improper fraction | A fraction whose numerator is larger then the denominator. It represents an amount greater then 1. |
equivalent forms | Two terms having the same value. |
least common multiple | The smallest positive integer that is a multiple of both a and b. Since it is a multiple, it can be divided by a and b without a remainder. |
place value | The value of a position of a digit in a number |
hundredths | When something is divided into 100 equal parts. |
decimal | Numbers and arithmetic based on the number ten, tenth parts, and powers of ten |
PEMDAS | When expressions have more than one operation, we have to follow rules for the order of operations: Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction. The mnemonic PEMDAS is used to help remember the correct order. |
common factor | Factors that are common to two or more numbers are said to be common factors. |
tenths | When something is divided into ten equal parts. |
