goalthe 8ft high by 8yrd wide area on the end line through which the ball must pass in order for one of the teams to make a point
kickoffthe kick to begin the game; normally used to establish possession for the kicking team
throw inthe restart used when the ball passes over the touchline
goal kickthe restart used when the ball passes over the endline last touched by the offensive team
corner kickthe restart used when the ball passes over the endline last touched by the defensive team
free kicka restart used from the point of a foul
direct kicka goal can be scored dirctly from this free kick
indirect kickanother player must touch the ball before a goal is scored from this free kick
penalty kicka direct kick for a foul committed in the penalty area
red cardan ejection from the game
yellow carda warning; 2 yellows = 1 red
passtouching the ball from one player to another
shotstriking the ball directly at the goal
crossplaying the ball from one side of the field to the other, usually in the air
volleyhitting the ball out of the air
half-volleyhitiing the ball after one bounce
dribblepushing the ball forward on the ground by one person
finishingscoring a goal
