| Austensite | A Face Centered Cubic form of steel which occurs when steel is heated red hot. It is a very unstable crystaline form! Does not occur at room temperature. |
| Pearlite | Typical type of steel |
| martensite | Body Centered Tetragonal crystal of steel formed when steel is heated to 910 degrees celsius and then quenched. This steel is hard and brittle. |
| BCC | Body Centered Cubic |
| FCC | Face Centered Cubic |
| CPH | Close Packed Hexagonal |
| cementite | Alloy with the most iron carbide; very hard and brittle. |
| Cast Iron | Iron product with 1-2% carbon |
| Ferrite | Almost pure iron |
