Republicanism | In a Republic, citizens elect representatives to carry out their will |
Federalism | Division of powers between the Federal and State Governments. Hint the Federal Government always wins. |
Checks and Balances | Each branch of government has the power to check, or limit the powers or actions of the other two branches |
Separation of Powers | The Constitution divides the powers of the government into three branches, The Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, and Judicial Branch |
Limited Government | The government only has the powers that the Constitution gives it |
Popular Sovereignty | Citizens has the power to alter, change, create, or abolish its government. Simple put the government gets its authority from the people |
