Predicting Common Reactions

With the reactants listed write the balanced chemical reaction that would result. write subscripts as normal script so ammonium sulfate would be written as (NH4)2SO4. Put a space before and after each formula and yield sign. Use the hyphen and greater than sign to make the yield sign as " -> ". Assume polyvalent metals will have the lowest charge possible (see the chart on page 221)

AB
potassium + oxygen2K + O2 -> 2K2O
magnesium + oxygen2Mg + O2 -> 2MgO
aluminum + oxygen2Al + 3O2 -> 2Al2O3
calcium + sulfur8Ca + S8 -> 8CaS
zinc + sulfur8Zn + S8 -> 8ZnS
sodium + chlorine2Na + Cl2 -> 2NaCl
iron + sulfur8Fe + S8 -> 8FeS
cobalt + oxygen2Co + O2 -> 2CoO
