Erosion,  | the process by which the surface of the earth is worn away by the action of water, glaciers, winds, waves, etc. |
Deposition,  | The accumulation or laying down of matter by a natural process, as the laying down of sediments in a river or the accumulation of mineral deposits in a bodily organ. |
Strike-Slip Fault,  | A fault in which surfaces on opposite sides of the fault plane have moved horizontally and parallel to the strike of the fault. |
Reverse Fault,  | a fault in which the rock above the fault plane is displaced upward relative to the rock below the fault plane |
Hot Spot,  | a region of molten rock below and within the lithosphere that persists long enough to leave a record of uplift and volcanic activity at the earth's surface. |
Volcano,  | a vent in the earth's crust through which lava, steam, ashes, etc., are expelled, either continuously or at irregular intervals. |
Rift Valley,  | a vent in the earth's crust through which lava, steam, ashes, etc., are expelled, either continuously or at irregular intervals. |
Richter Scale,  | a scale, ranging from 1 to 10, for indicating the intensity of an earthquake. |
Land Subsidence,  | Sinking elevation of the ground surface; the process may occur over an aquifer that is slowly draining and decreasing in volume because of pore collapse. |
