Drama or PlayA form of literature that is performed for an audience, either on stage or before a camera.
Scriptthe special written form that is used for drama in which lines are written out for the characters to speak
Cast of CharactersThe list of all the characters that is found in the beginning of a script
DialogueThe conversation between the characters. Both the plot and the characters' personalities are revealed through the dialogue.
Stage DirectionsThe instructions, usually printed in italics, for the director, the performers and the stage crew, which tell the actors how to move and speak.
SceneryAll the decorations on stage to help create the setting.
PropsThe objects that actors need and use during the play.
ScenesThe action of the play is divided into scenes, which change whenever the setting--time, place, or both--change.
ActsScenes are grouped into Acts.
ProtagonistThe main character in a play or drama, usually the hero.
AntagonistA main character in a play or drama who is in opposition to the protagonist.
MonologueA speech by one character who is alone on stage (soliloquy)
ThemeA statement about life around which the playwright builds the play.
PlotThe action or main event in a drama.
SettingWhere and when the play takes place.
