Andrew | Peter's brother. Went to Greece. He was martyred there by being tied to a cross. While on the cross he continued to preach the Gospel to all who came to see him. |
James the Greater | Son of Zebedee. Martyred under Herod soon after Pentecost (Acts 12:1-2). |
John | Son of Zebedee. Bishop of the Churches in Asia. Settled in Ephesus in AD 97 where he continued to care for the Blessed Mother. While exiled to the Island of Patmos he was given a vision and wrote the book of Revelation. Only Apostle not to be martyred. The "Beloved Disciple." |
Phillip | Traveled to Greece to preach the Gospel and was crucified during the persecution of Domition. |
Bartholomew | Preached in India and Armenia. Flayed alive and then beheaded in Armenia by King Abanopolis. |
Thomas | Preached to Partians, Persians, and Medes. Traveled to India where he was martyred. Often called the "Doubting". |
Matthew | Also called Levi. Tax collector who promised our Lord to repay all he had stolen 10 fold. |
James the Lesser | First bishop of Jerusalem. Martyred there by Jews around 62 AD. |
Jude Thaddeus | traveled to Persia with Simon the Cananaean and was martyred there. |
Simon Cananaean | traveled to Persia with Jude Thaddeus and was martyred there. |
Judas Iscariot | Betrayed Our Blessed Lord. In despair he committed suicide soon after. |
