| 943 | General John Curcuas brought it to Constantinople for Byzantine Emperor Romaus Lecapenus. It was installed in the royal chapel and not shown publicly until it was unfolded and found to be the Shroud, not just a protrait. Later it was used in a ceremony representing Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday. |
