Point of view | one who is telling the story |
1st person point of view | the narrator is involved in the action. Usually includes "I". |
2nd person point of view | narrator tells the story to another character. Usually includes "you". |
3rd person point of view | The narrator tells the action of all characters. Usually includes "he, she, they". |
Verbal Irony | to say one thing but mean another. EX: that's a fine thing you did = you did a really stupid thing. |
Situational Irony | What you think will happen doesn't. EX: you slip on the banana peel that you left on the floor for someone else. |
Autobiography | A person writes about his, her own life |
Biography | A person writes about someone else'l life. |
Analogy | time:clock ; weight;scale |
Protagonist | The main character of a story |
Antagoinist | The character or force that acts against the main character. |

Refrain | A regularly repeated line or group of lines in a poem. |
Simile | Comparison using like or as. |
Metaphor | comparison without using like or as. |
Alliteration | Repeating beginning sounds in a poem line. |
