“Moral” has to do withright and wrong
Being a moral person means we want tochoose good and avoid evil
Decisions are based on what we value ---onour moral vision.
Our "..... ....."comes from many sourcesOur moral vision
We are free to make decisions. Limits come from 2 sources.....1.within ourselves e.g. personal views, conscience. 2 from outside e.g. rules, laws
Three levels of morality1. Moral Vision 2 Values: Our morality expresses itself in the Values we want to promote e.g. life equality, freedom etc 3. Rules: because sometimes our values may clash e.g. freedom V right to life
People in authority try to make rules for...“the common good”
In a democracy we elect people to to make laws for what?for the common good
people may disagree with some laws . What are we free to do in a democracy?we are free to protest by peaceful means e.g. street demonstrations.
but in some dictatorship governments based on power only no disagreement is allowed. E.g..........Hitler’s Germany
Where is The Christian Moral Vision found ?in the teaching and life of Jesus
Jesus was a Jew who was reared with the Covenant and the 10 Commandments. True or False?True
Jesus simplified all the many laws down to Two basic onesLove God . Love neighbour
The Beatitudes are the supreme expression of .....The Christian Moral Vision
“it’s not what we do it's.......the way that we do it!”
In story of the Young Man Jesus invited him to be perfect. Why did the young man go away sad?Because he had many possessions
We tend to think only of ourselves but the Christian message is ...to think not only of ourselves but to love our neighbour as ourselves
