Characteris a person (or sometimes an animal) who takes part in the action of a literary work.
Conflictthe problems the main characters must solve by the end of the story
Plotthe events that take place in a story
Expositionthe introduction of the setting and characters and events that happened before the story began.
The rising actionthe events that lead to the climax; a high point of intensity.
Climaxis the highest point of suspense in the story.
Falling actionis all the events that follow the climax.
Resolutionall loose ends have been tied upand all reader's questons answered.
Third-person omniscient point of viewstory told by someone NOT in the story; all chracters thoughts are known
Settingthe time and place in which it happens.
Themethe message or lesson the author wants the reader to learn from the story.
Point of viewis the vantage point from which a story is told.
First-person point of view,the narrator takes part in the action of the story and includes himself or herself in the telling of the story by using words such as I and we.
Third-person limited point of view,the narrator is more of an observer, standing outside the action of the story and relating details to the reader using words such as he, she, it, and they. Not in the story, but can only show thoughts of ONE character.
