Exposition | the introduction of the setting and characters and events that happened before the story began. |
The rising action | the events that lead to the climax; a high point of intensity. |
Climax | is the highest point of suspense in the story. |
Falling action | is all the events that follow the climax. |
Resolution | all loose ends have been tied upand all reader's questons answered. |
Third-person omniscient point of view | story told by someone NOT in the story; all chracters thoughts are known |
Setting | the time and place in which it happens. |
Theme | the message or lesson the author wants the reader to learn from the story. |
Point of view | is the vantage point from which a story is told. |
First-person point of view, | the narrator takes part in the action of the story and includes himself or herself in the telling of the story by using words such as I and we. |
Third-person limited point of view, | the narrator is more of an observer, standing outside the action of the story and relating details to the reader using words such as he, she, it, and they. Not in the story, but can only show thoughts of ONE character. |
