Shutter Release ButtonWhen pressed the shutter is opened allowing light to strike the CCD
Shutter Speed SettingsThe period of time the shutter remains open allowing light to strike the CCD. Expressed in fractions of a second.
FlashSynchronizes additional light with a shutter opening.
ISO settingAn index for the sensitivity of the CCD
Self-Timer ButtonYou will use this if you want to be in the photo or have a delayed reponse to the firing of the camera.
Camera BodyAll the internal mechanical and optical parts are held together by this.
ViewfinderYou must look through this to ensure that everything you want in a photo will appear.
Resolution or Picture SizeThe pixel dimensions of an image
White BalanceSets the color temperture so the camera knows what is white
Digital MacroAllows the camera to focus on small objects at small distances
Manual ModeAllows the user to set shutter speed or aperture
Automatic ModeCamera determines the correct exposure
Scene ModeCamera determines the correct exposure by subject and lighting conditions
Compression SizeAmount of pixels removed to reduce image size for .jpg files
Focus LockKeeps a focus setting so that a subject off center will remain in focus
Re-formatA secure way to cleanly delete all the files from a camera
SD CardSmall memory device for camera images
Compact Flash CardLarge memory device for camera images
Auto FocusCamera choses where to focus when the shutter button is partially pushed down
Manual FocusUser determines the focus of the camera
