| Totalitarianism | A political system in which an individual or group of individuals asserts central control applied to all areas of life—government, culture, religion, economy, and home. |
| Democracy | Democracy is a system of government that is of the people, by the people, for the people. A majority determines all decisions. All people can speak their minds in a democracy. |
| Fascism | an emphasis on the nation (race or state) as the centre and regulator of all history and life, and on the indisputable authority of the leader behind whom the people were expected to form an unbreakable unity. |
| Communism | A system of government in which no one really owns anything and the goods produced by the people are in turn distributed according to the needs of the people. The government distributes these goods. Distribution is done so that all the population receives the same amount of everything and no one is better than anyone else or owns more than anyone else. i.e. they are equal. |
| Absolutism | A form of government in which all power is vested in a single ruler or other authority. |
| Anarchism | A political/social system that totally defies and rebels against all forms of leadership and authority. Anarchists believe that there should be no government and if there is a government, it should be overthrown because it is unjust and wrong. They want to do things on their own without someone telling them what to do. |
| Capitalism- Analogy | You have two cows, sell one, buy a bull, produce several calves which you then use to buy more bulls and cows which in turn produce more calves. You now have so many calves; you need a barn, which you build. Your cows breed like flies, requiring you to build more barns. You pave over your cows’ pastures to build these barns. Soon there is no more farmland left on which to graze your cows. With no place to feed, your cows die. You are now a cow farmer without a farm and without cows, but with lots of barns. |
| Totalitarianism- Analogy | You have two cows. The government takes them and denies they ever existed. Milk is banned. |
| Democracy- Analogy | You have two cows. Your neighbors vote that you should have chickens. |
| Fascism- People | Mussolini (head of Italy WWII), Hitler, Joseph Geebler (head of propaganda) |
| Communism- Analogy | You have two cows. The government takes both of them, and gives you the milk. |
| Absolutism- Analogy | You have two cows. Your neighbors each want one of them. To protect your property, the king takes both and lets you thank him for his kindness. |
| Anarchism- Analogy | You have two cows. You kill both. |
