| Welfare services | Services provided by the government or community organisations for those who cannot afford to provide for themselves |
| Public Goods | Goods paid for through taxes. Once provided, everyone can get to use it so a price cannot be charged e.g. street lighting |
| Mixed goods | Commodities like health and education which are provided by the public (government) sector and private sector. A charge can be made but the government provides for those who cannot afford them. |
| Merit goods | Commodities which are considered good for us e.g. education |
| Government agencies | Government organisations which provide collective goods like healthcare and parks |
| Demerit goods | Commodities which are considered bad for us. The government try to discourage their production and consumption through penalties and taxes e.g. sale of tobacco, sale of alcohol |
| Private goods | Goods and services that are paid for by the consumer, and are provided through the market place |
