Exponential growthis when the individuals in a population reproduce at a constant rate.
Over time , the population becomes larger and larger until it approaches an infinitely larger size. This is because the more it grows , the more individuals there are that are reproducing. This happens when there are ideal conditions and unlimited resources (what a population needs to survive) are available.
In a graph the J curveindicates that a population is growing exponentially.
Carrying capacitywhen looking at a graph, you will see a horizontal line through the region of the graph where the growth of population has leveled off. The point at which that line intersects with the y axis tells you the size of the population when the average growth rate reached zero.
Limiting factors are factors thatlimit the growth of a population.
Density dependent limiting factorare factors like competition, predation , parasitism, and disease. This factors are only limiting to a population when the population density ( the number of organisms per unit are) is large and dense. If a population is dense these factors do not affect the population very much.
