Sino-Japanese War | Japan vs. China. Japan WINS! In a rout. On paper, China should have won. This means two things: Japan is getting stronger, especially military. China: continues to grow weaker, China is realizing things have got to change. |

Ottoman Empire | Consisted of Turks/present day Turkey. Ottoman were losing power/geography, so their incentive to join WWI, a chance to gain land, prestige, and to reestablish themselves as a superpower. Armenian Genocide: trying to create “one race of superior people” |
Archduke Ferdinand | Assassinated in Serbia, in the “Powder Keg”, Balkan area. Was the staring point of WWI, as it triggered the alliances |
Allied Powers | WWI: America, France, England: Winners: to the winners go the spoils, after the WWI they clean up; blame Germany, force war reparations upon the Central powers: Germany is fined, military becomes very small, Germany is left to fend for themselves |
Central Powers | Germany, Austria Hungary, Ottomans. Central Powers are blamed and exploited after WWI. They have no say in the Treaty of Versaille. |
