Properties of Real Numbers

AB
Commutative property of additionChange the order of the numbers and the answer is still the same. 4 + 5 = 5 + 4
Commutative property of multiplicationChange the order of the numbers and the answer is still the same. 4 x 5 = 5 x 4
Associative property of additionMove the parentesis and keep the numbers in the same order. (3 + 4) + 6 = 3 + (4 + 6)
Associative property of multiplicationMove the parentesis and keep the numbers in the same order.(3 x 4) x 6 = 3 x (4 x 6)
Distribubutive PropertyIt means to distribute evenly. The first number in front of the parentesis gets muliplied to all the numbers(terms) inside the parentesis 5(4 + 2) = 5(4) + 5(2)
Addition Property of ZeroAny number plus 0 always equals that number. 5+0 = 0
Multiplication Property of OneAny number multiplied by one always equals that number. 4 x 1 = 4
Additive (means to add) InverseThe inverse of a number is its opposite. 8 + -8 = 0
Multiplicative (means X) InverseThe inverse of the number and is its reciprocal (flip it) equals one. 3 x 1/3 = 1
Multiplcation Property of ZeroAny number multiplied by zero equals zero.9 x 0 = 0
Symmetric Propertya= b then b = a -Both sides are going to be equal (identical) to one another. ex. 3 + 1 = 4 = 1 + 3 = 4
