Microsoft Word 2007, Formatting Text

This activity will help you learn terms in Microsoft Word 2007, concerning formatting text.

AB
FontDescribes the typeface and appearance of characters on the screen and in print.
Font SizeRefers to the height of the characters; remember as characters get talller, they also grow proportionally wider.
Character FormattingRefers to the special stylized variations applied to plain characters to make them stand out from other text. They include bold, italics, underline, etc.
EffectsYou can add special effects to the text such as strikethrough, superscript or subscript, shadow, smallcaps. etc.
Align Left (Ctrl)+(L)Aligns text to the left mar4gin with ragged right edges.
Center (Ctrl)+(E)Aligns text between the left and right margins.
Align Right (Ctrl)+(R)Aligns text to the right margin with ragged left edges.
Justify (Ctrl)+(J)Aligns text so the left and right edges of the text are flush with both margins, except for the last line of the paragraph.
Format PainterEnables you to apply the same formatting options from one piece of text to different areas of the document without having to perform the formatting selections each time.
BordersLines that can be placed around selected text paragraphs, or even pages.
ShadingRefers to a background color behind text.
Font dialog box (Ctrl)+(D)Contains basic formatting options, as well as additional choice to enhance text.
